This is not a stand-alone procedure. Customer disruption and damage
to the hardware might occur if microcode and power boundaries are
not in the proper conditions for this service action.
If you were sent here by a serviceable event FRU repair, the microcode
and power boundaries have already been set.
Note: The I/O enclosure must be fully removed from the rack
for this procedure.
Procedure
At the rear of the rack, locate the Ethernet switch to
laptop USB Ethernet adapter cable to be replaced.
There are two cables. See Figure 1 and Figure 2.
- Black network, Ethernet
switch SW1 (left) connector T1 to laptop USB Ethernet adaptor (eth0)
with black USB cable connected (Figure 2).
- Gray network, Ethernet
switch SW2 (right) connector T1 to laptop USB Ethernet adaptor (eth3)
with gray USB cable connected (Figure 2).
Note: The position of the black and gray USB Ethernet
adapters in Figure 2 may be swapped in some racks.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Ethernet switch
T1 port.

At the front of the rack, behind the laptop, disconnect
the Ethernet cable from the USB Ethernet adapter.
Remove the cable retention hardware as needed and remove
the cable from the rack.
Install the laptop tray cable assembly
Procedure
Inspect the new cable and find the end that has the location
label for the SW-x T1 connector. That goes to the Ethernet switch.
Route the cable through the cable management arm.
Connect the cable to the Ethernet switch T1 connector and
to the USB Ethernet adapter.
Connect the USB cable to the USB Ethernet adapter.
Reinstall the cable retention hardware.
To verify the black and gray private networks, reference
MAP7001 using the network topology tool.
