When you service this machine, always wear an electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap that is properly connected to the rack frame or enclosure sheetmetal. This prevents possible damage to the hardware, and decreases any possible impact to customer operations.
Following is a list of the ESD-sensitive parts in thestorage facility. Always wear the ESD wrist strap when you work on or touch any of these parts.
See How to attach the ESD wrist strap.
To prevent damage when you work with ESD-sensitive parts, perform these instructions carefully.
Touching the logic board pins without wearing the ESD wrist strap (for example, while counting the pins) can cause logic card failures. Touching the voltmeter leads when you measure board pins or cable connections can also cause ESD damage.
