Checking management consoles (HMCs) if installing second Rack-1

Procedure

Will the Rack-1 you are installing be connected to an existing Rack-1 (already installed) by private network cables (gray and black)?
- Yes. The two Rack-1s will share their internal management consoles (primary and secondary roles). Go to the next step.
- No. Stop. You should not be in this section. Go back to Checking cables on all racks and ensure you answered the questions correctly.
Determine the total number of HMCs in the existing storage complex that are already available for use.
Select the condition that applies:
- There is only one active HMC, it is in the first SF in this storage complex. Go to Disconnecting Ethernet cables if new HMC will be secondary role (MC2).
- There are already two active HMCs in this storage complex. HMC1 is in the first SF in this storage facility, HMC2 is an external HMC in a customer-provided rack. Go to the next step.
The existing external HMC2 must be discontinued. The HMC2 code objects on HMC1 and SF1 LPARs must be reset so the HMC in the new SF can be installed as HMC2.
