The steps in this procedure power-on and logically install
each I/O enclosure pair. The lower pair will be logically installed
first followed by the upper pair.
Procedure
- At the front of Rack-2, connect the four DC power
cables to the lower I/O enclosure pair. The lower
two I/O enclosures will power on.
- Ensure the upper I/O enclosure pair, R2-XI1 (U1400.2B1.sssssss) and R2-XI2
(U1400.2B2.sssssss), is not powered on. The DC power
cables to the upper I/O enclosure pair should not be connected. If
they are, disconnect them now and then go to the next step.
- For the bottom pair of I/O enclosures only, perform the
logical installation and verification steps.
- From the navigation area, click .
- From the bottom Task area, click . A Single Choice Message Box window opens.
- Select Install I/O Enclosures and
click Submit.
- When prompted to select
an I/O Enclosure pair for installation, select U1400.2B3.sssssss and U1400.2B4.sssssss and
click Submit.
- Follow the guided process to complete the logical install
and verification for this pair of I/O enclosures.
- When directed to return
to the MES installation instruction to install U1400.2B3.sssssss,
click Next to continue.
- When directed to return
to the MES installation instruction to install U1400.2B4.sssssss,
click Next to continue.
- When notified that
the installation has completed successfully and directed to return
to the MES or installation instructions, click Next to
finish the installation process.
- Display and repair any open serviceable events.
- If there are none, go to the next step.
- If there is an open serviceable event with SRC 10009135, do
not repair it, instead just close or ignore it. It is an expected
error from opening the SPCN cable loop. Go to the next step.
- If there is an open serviceable event with an SRC other than
10009135, repair it and then go to the next step.
- View the storage
facility status. If any of the system check results display as FAILED,
view the details and refer to MAP1100 View storage facility state (end of call). Before you continue
the installation, all status fields should display as PASSED.
- From the navigation area, click .
- From the bottom Task area, click . A window displays
the status (passed/failed) of 25 or more system checks. The following
is an example.

Note: If the status for Large File Transfer (the
tenth System Check Type status from the top) displays as FAILED, the
remaining System Check Types below it cannot be displayed.
- To display further details, select
a row and click Details.
- At the front of Rack-2, connect the four DC power cables
to the four power supplies of the upper I/O enclosure pair. The upper
two I/O enclosures will power on.
- For the upper pair of I/O enclosures only, perform the
logical installation and verification steps.
- From the navigation area, click .
- From the bottom Task area, click . A Single Choice Message Box window opens.
- Select Install I/O Enclosures and
click Submit.
- When prompted to select
an I/O Enclosure pair for installation, select U1400.2B1.sssssss and U1400.2B2.sssssss and
click Submit.
- Follow the guided process to complete the logical install
and verification for this pair of I/O enclosures.
- When directed to return
to the MES installation instruction to install U1400.2B1.sssssss,
click Next to continue.
- When directed to return
to the MES installation instruction to install U1400.2B2.sssssss,
click Next to continue.
- When notified that
the installation has completed successfully and directed to return
to the MES or installation instructions, click Next to
finish the installation process.
- Display and repair any related open serviceable events.
- View the storage
facility status. If any of the system check results display as FAILED,
view the details and refer to MAP1100 View storage facility state (end of call). Before you continue
the installation, all status fields should display as PASSED.
- Select the condition that
applies and corresponding action to take. Refer to Table 1, Figure 2, and Figure 3.
