The Network Topology tool has been used to determine
that one management
console has
lost connectivity to all nodes through both networks
(Black/eth0 and Gray/eth3).
This failure cannot be caused by a single network hardware
problem.
Procedure
Is the failing management
console an external management
console?
Yes, continue with the next step.
No, continue with step 5.
Did this failure occur following the installation of the
external management
console?
Yes, continue with the next step.
No, continue with step 5.
Check that the management
console was configured
correctly. Only two management
consoles within
a storage complex are supported. One management
console must be
defined as the primary and one as a secondary. To verify this:
From the navigation area, click HMC
Management.
In the right work area, go to the Storage
Server HMC Tasks section and click Query/Activate
HMC Role Selection. The current HMC role
is displayed along with the option to change the setting.
If no problem was found, then continue with the next step.
Ensure that the cables between the external management
console and the storage facility are
connected at both ends. Refer to the MES instructions
that you are using to install the external management console and
ensure the private network cabling is correct.
Restart the management
console.
Ensure that the customer is not currently accessing
the management
console to
perform configuration or copy services functions.
Close or cancel any tasks or windows that are currently
open.
From the navigation area, click HMC
Management.
In the right work area, go to the Operations section
and click Shut Down or Restart. The Shutdown
or Restart window opens.
