MAP7023 Private network isolation procedure 23

The Network Topology tool has been used to determine that one or both management consoles have lost connectivity to an LPAR on a single CEC enclosure (one of the two processor complexes in a storage facility) through both networks (Black/eth0 and Gray/eth3).

About this task

This problem cannot be caused by the failure of a single network FRU.

Procedure

Use Service Management > Manage Serviceable Events. Do you have a different serviceable event which is indicating a failure with the CEC enclosure?
- Yes, use that serviceable event to repair the CEC enclosure problem. When the problem is repaired, go to MAP7000 Entry point for storage facility private network problems and use the Network topology test tool to check if the network problem is resolved.
- No, continue with the next step.
Ensure that all previous repair actions on the storage facility were completed and the CEC enclosure was fully activated. Use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Server View > server to determine the server (ESS system) and partition status.
Did you identify that the LPAR was in a deactivated state?
- Yes, ensure that you understand why the LPAR was deactivated. If you are unsure then contact your next level of support. Activate and resume the LPAR. Use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > SF image > LPAR > Service Utilities > Change/Show LPAR State and then use Quiesce/Shutdown/Activate/Resume LPAR to recover.
- No, to troubleshoot the Black network (HMC eth0) go to MAP7033 Private network isolation procedure 33. Recovery may also require you to troubleshoot the Gray network (HMC eth3), go to MAP7043 Private network isolation procedure 43.
