Connecting the mainline power cables on the racks (wired)

Before you begin

DANGER
An electrical outlet that is not correctly wired could place hazardous voltage on the metal parts of the system or the devices that attach to the system. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the outlet is correctly wired and grounded to prevent an electrical shock. (D004)

Procedure

  1. Switch the customer circuit breaker to Off for the mainline power cables.
  2. Attention: Use lockout and tagout procedures as defined in the Electrical Safety for IBM® Customer Engineers.
  3. Verify the CB1 main line switch on the rear of each DC-UPS is set to Off (down).
  4. Connect each storage facility mainline power cable connector to the DC-UPS.
  5. If the rack has a top exit line cord feature, pull the mainline power cables up to remove excess slack, and tighten the adjustable clamp bracket Callout label 2 into the clamp housing Callout label 1 to secure the mainline power cables. Do not excessively tighten the clamp bracket. See Figure 1.
