DANGER
HEAVY EQUIPMENT -- PERSONAL
INJURY OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE MAY RESULT IF MISHANDLED (D006)
Procedure
- Verify that the customer has two AC power sources for each
rack in the storage facility. For maximum fault tolerance, use two
separate AC power sources.
- Verify the customer wall circuit breaker.
The customer wall circuit breaker rating that protects each line cord
depends on the voltage range as follows:
- Single-phase
(200 - 240 V) require wall circuit breakers that have a rating of
60 to 63 A.
- Three-phase
low-voltage (200 - 240 V) installations require wall circuit breakers
that have a rating of 50 to 60 A.
- Three-phase
high-voltage (380 - 415 V) installations require wall circuit breakers
that have a rating of 30 to 35 A.
- If the storage facility will be installed
on a raised floor:
- The maximum rack weight is 2920 pounds (1325 kilograms).
Have the customer verify their floor has adequate support.
Note: For
details on the rack weights, refer to IBM® DS8870 Introduction and Planning Guide.
- To correctly cool a rack, place two floor tiles with
air flow holes directly in the front of each rack.
- If the rack does not have features for overhead cable
management of power or host cables, or both, place the appropriate
floor cutouts under the rear tailgate.
- If the rack does have features for overhead cable management,
floor cutouts are not required in the following cases.
- Rack 1, Rack 2:
- Rack has feature 1400 (top exit bracket for fibre cable), AND
- Rack has a top exit line cord feature (1072, 1073, 1083
or 1084), AND
- Customer wants the PCIe and SPCN cables routed under the racks
and on top of the raised floor
- Rack 3 or Rack 4:
- Rack has a top exit line cord feature (1072, 1073, 1083
or 1084)
- Go to step 5.
- If the storage facility will not be installed
on a raised floor, ensure the customer will provide adequate air flow
and temperature around the storage facility.
Notes: - For information about the temperature requirements of the operating
environment, see the IBM DS8870 Introduction and Planning Guide.
The PDF is also available on the IBM DS8000® series
Service Documents CDROM.
- The rack cooling airflow enters through the front cover and exits
through the rear cover. The bottom of the DS8000 is sealed.
