DS8000 Service Documentation Version 7.5
FWPCI6
Procedure
- Determine the failing PCI slot. The last character of
the progress code (checkpoint) in which the system is hanging indicates which
PCI slot the system was probing at the time the hang occurred. For example,
E251 indicates PCI slot 1, E252 indicates slot 2, and so on.
- For the PCI slot identified by the progress code, perform the following
procedure.
- Power off the failing CEC enclosure to power off
state (the CEC enclosure control panel green LED slow blinking). Use
the HMC Exchange Part menu option for the CEC enclosure
PCI adapter card for the failing slot.
- Reseat the adapter in the specified slot, then power up the CEC
enclosure by continuing the part replace procedure.
Does the
problem occur again?
- Yes, go to the next step.
- No, this ends the procedure.
- Power off the failing CEC enclosure to power off
state and remove the adapter from the specified slot, then
power the CEC enclosure back on.
Does the problem occur again?
- Yes, replace the CEC enclosure I/O backplane assembly. Use the HMC
Exchange Part menu to replace this FRU.
- No, replace the adapter that you removed. Use the HMC Exchange
Part menu to replace this FRU.
