MAP5250 Isolating a Meta data check failure

About this task

You are here to resolve a data check failure that has been logged with one of the SRC BE50 values listed below. An action to repair hardware or microcode is necessary. This required action will be to repair another problem in the log.

This MAP isolates for the following SRC BE50s:

SRC BE504980, Meta data check, DDM medium error, single LBA.
SRC BE504990, Meta data check, DDM medium error, multiple LBA.
SRC BE5049A0, Meta data check, data LRC, single LBA.
SRC BE5049B0, Meta data check, data LRC, multiple LBA.

Procedure

Refer to Table 1 for the SRC BE50 that requires problem resolution.

Determine the necessary hardware or microcode repair action.

Data will be recovered by internal microcode. No data repair action is required. If a hardware repair problem is not available for this failure, the failure may be intermittent. If the data failure continues, contact your next level of support for assistance in isolating and repairing the problem.

SRC BE50	Description	Recommended Action
4980 or 4990	Meta Data Check affecting one or more Logical Block Address on the target volume. 4980 indicates one LBA, 4990 indicates more than one LBA. The device adapter card or Fibre Channel interface card (FCIC) reported a Medium Error during data transfer from DDM to cache memory.	Locate and repair the problem with SRC BE3`XXXXX` that contains a repair action for the DDM or device adapter card or Fibre Channel interface card (FCIC) that is associated with this Data Check.
49A0 or 49B0	Meta Data Check affecting one or more Logical Block Address on the target volume. 49A0 indicates one LBA, 49B0 indicates more than one LBA. An LRC check detected during data transfer from DDM to cache memory could not be recovered.	Locate and repair the problem with SRC BE3`XXXXX` that contains a repair action for the DDM or device adapter card or Fibre Channel interface card (FCIC) that is associated with this data check.
