MAP2630 Replacing a rack power system cable

The rack battery modules are being charged but have not yet achieved the 80% minimum charge to allow the storage facility to be used.

Procedure

You were sent here to replace a rack power system cable. A rack power cable FRU is listed twice in the serviceable event FRU list. This allows the location code of each end of the cable to be identified.
1. One end of the cable was listed with the PSCBLxx symbolic FRU procedure that sent you here. The physical location code of the connector that this end of the cable plugs into is listed.
2. The other end of the cable is listed with the CBLCONT symbolic FRU. The physical location code of the connector that this end of the cable plugs into is listed.
3. If the cable is a "Y" cable that has three connectors, a second CBLCONT symbolic FRU will be listed in the FRU list for this cable.
This cable cannot be replaced using the normal serviceable event FRU list process. In that process, you highlight the FRU and then select the repair option to begin the guided process to replace the FRU. In this case, the repair FRU option is not available.
Determine the locations of the connectors and the part number of the cable.
1. Observe the FRU list details to determine the physical location code for each end of the cable.
2. Find the physical connector for each end of the cable. See MAP1245 Finding FRUs by using location codes.
3. Determine the part number of the cable. Either read the cable part number label or look it up in the part number section using the location code to determine the specific cable. (Part numbers, location codes, LEDS>Part numbers>Rack power and cooling part numbers)
Replace the cable using the Exchange FRU procedure:
1. The cable itself does not have a parts exchange procedure. Instead, you will do a pseudo repair of the logic FRU at one end of the cable.
  When that logic FRU is fully powered off, you will replace the cable and then complete the pseudo repair of the logic FRU. You will not replace the logic FRU; you will replace only the cable.
2. Determine one end of the cable to drive the repair with:
  - If one end of the cable connects to the Rack-1 RPC card, then select that RPC card to drive this cable replacement.
  - If the cable is the battery-charging cable that directly connects the PPS to the Battery Module Enclosure, select the PPS as the FRU to repair.
  - If the cable does not connect to an RPC card or Battery Module Enclosure, you can select the FRU at either end of the cable.
3. Do a pseudo repair of the logic FRU you have selected. See MAP1230 Replace a FRU without using a serviceable event. When directed, disconnect all cable from the logic FRU to ensure it is powered off. Do not replace the logic FRU. Instead, physically replace the cable. Continue the repair. When the problem no longer fails, close the serviceable event that sent you here.
4. Check for any fenced or quiesced power FRUs. Refer to MAP1100 View storage facility state (end of call).
  Were any rack power resources found fenced or quiesced?
  - Yes. If there are open related serviceable events, repair them now. If there are no open related serviceable events, do a pseudo repair of the FRU that is fenced or quiesced. Refer to MAP2600 Pseudo FRU exchange needed to reset existing FRU.
  - No, this procedure is complete. Exit this MAP.
