DS8000 Service Documentation Version 7.5
Checking for required microcode
Procedure
- Is the new storage facility being
installed to an existing storage facility?
- Yes, go to step 2.
- No, go to step 3.
- Ensure the code level
of the existing storage facility is already at a compatible level
or same level as the new storage facility code levels.
When the installation is complete, the
storage facilities and HMCs must be at the same code levels. Go to
step 4
- Determine if there is a "required " or "recommended " level
of microcode available for your storage facility or management
console. For IBM® personnel, consult your next level of support for this storage
model. For
non-IBM personnel, follow the established process to determine the
required code level.
Notes: - Required means that the storage facility must
not be transferred over to the customer without the indicated code
level installed.
- Recommended means the IBM service representative can either:
- Give the storage facility to
the customer when the installation is complete.
- Negotiate with the customer for a more convenient time to update
the microcode.
- Go to the next section.
