Removing right end and left rear covers from Rack-1

Procedure

  1. Remove the right end cover (viewed from the front) from Rack-1.
    1. Remove the two screws at the top of the end cover, they are not visible from the side of the rack. The cover is still secured to the frame by multiple cable ties along each side of the cover.
      Note: Failure to follow the instructions in the following steps might result in a bent cover.
      Attention: Pull lower down on each side of the cover to release it from the lower cable ties. Failure to do this may bend the cover.
    2. Pull the upper corners of the cover away from the rack to release the upper cable ties and apply even pressure working your way down the sides. See Figure 1.

    3. Further down, pull each side of the cover away from the rack to release the lower cable ties and remove the cover.
    4. Go to the next step.
  2. Remove the left rear cover from Rack-1. Refer to Figure 2.
    Note: On some models, the rack machine type, model, serial (MTMS) label is located on the left rear cover, just above the door latch. If the left rear cover is removed from the rack, ensure it is reinstalled on the correct rack. If this is not done, the incorrect MTMS will be displayed on the exterior of the rack, which could result in maintenance errors or other issues. If a reference is needed, the correct rack MTMS is also shown on the "1S" label, affixed to the upper left inside wall of both the front and rear of the rack.
    1. On the upper and lower door hinges, loosen the screw  1  and move the retention plate  2  that prevents the hinge pin  3  from being removed.
    2. Remove the hinge pins, remove the rear cover and place it in a safe location.
