Use the latest version of the instructions in PDF format to perform the tasks in this section. The instructions can have additional updates and corrections that were included after the release of this version of the service information center.

The information in Table 1 must only be used for general planning of your installation or remove activities.

Installing the DS8000
Any expansion rack being installed to an existing storage facility. Installing a DS8000 expansion rack to an existing storage facility
MES hardware:
  • DDMs to be installed in existing storage enclosures.
  • Device adapter cards to be installed in existing I/O enclosures.
  • External management console (installed in a customer-provided rack).
  • Host adapters to be installed in existing I/O enclosures.
  • Storage enclosures.
Use the MES instructions. Consult your next level of support for this storage model.
1New racks from manufacturing will have a flyer that is similar to one of the following taped to the rack operator panel under the front cover. See the following examples:
