Ensuring existing storage facility is ready for installation actions
There must be no unrepaired serviceable events prior to beginning the installation.
Procedure
- At HMC1 (primary role) in
SF #1, display and repair any open serviceable events on the existing
storage facility that the new rack will be installed to:
- From the navigation area, click Service Management.
- In the right work area, click Manage Serviceable Events. A window opens and displays a list of selection criteria.
- You can use the default criteria or modify the criteria for your needs. Click OK. The Serviceable Event Overview window opens.
- Repair any serviceable events before you continue with the installation. Select a serviceable event. Click Selected > Repair. The guided process window opens.
- At HMC1 (primary role) in
SF #1, view the storage facility status (end of call). If any of the
system check results display as FAILED, view the details and refer
to "MAP1100 View storage facility (end of call)." Before you continue
the installation, all status fields should display as PASSED.
- From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility.
- From the bottom Task area, click Service Utilities > View Storage Facility
State. A window displays
the status (passed/failed) of 25 or more system checks. The following
is an example. Figure 1. Window: View Storage Facility State
Note: If the status for Large File Transfer (the tenth System Check Type status from the top) displays as FAILED, the remaining System Check Types below it cannot be displayed. - To display further details, select a row and click Details.
Attention: At LIC bundle levels below 76.10.xx.yy, do not continue with this installation until you confirm whether this storage facility is set for three-phase power. If the storage facility is set for single-phase power, contact your next level of support. - For LIC bundle levels
76.10.xx.yy and above, continue to the next section. For LIC bundle
levels below 76.10.xx.yy, perform the following steps to check the
input power phase setting.
- From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility.
- From the bottom Task area, click Service Utilities > Manage FRUs...
- Look for inputPowerPhase in the
Attribute Identifier column.
- If the value is 3-phase, you can continue with this expansion rack installation.
- If the attribute value is single-phase, stop and contact your next level of support.
