MAP6210 Restore HMC Critical Console Data from LPAR, LIC bundle VRMF 64.2.xxx.xxx or later
Use this MAP to restore the HMC critical console data from the LPAR. This is normally needed only after the HMC hard drive code is reloaded.

About this task
Procedure
- From the navigation area, click HMC Management.
- From the right work area, go to the Storage Server HMC Tasks section and click HMC Rebuild and Recovery. The HMC Rebuild and Recovery window opens.
- Select Recover Storage Facility and HMC Data and click Submit.
- The restore HMC and storage facility critical data process
runs automatically. The data is restored from an LPAR copy; there is no DVD involved in this
process. The process can take 5 - 15 minutes. You are informed by message panels about the success
or failure of the restore.

When the process is complete, you are prompted to reboot the HMC. Click OK to proceed with the reboot.
- If this is a dual-HMC configuration and you were directed to shut down the secondary management
console (HMC2) as part of reloading the primary management console (HMC1), you might power on the
secondary management console now. Note: In dual-HMC configurations at LIC bundle VRMF 64.2.xxx.xxx or later, a newly reloaded primary management console cannot communicate with the LPARs without additional actions. At this point in MAP6210, you have either successfully recovered storage facility and HMC data on primary management console, or you will use MAP6220 to reload the management console with no backup data. In either case, you can power on the secondary management console now.

- Yes, go to step 8.
- No, go to the next step.
- Did you just reload the management console
LIC bundle before coming to MAP6210?
- Yes, go to MAP6220 Reloading the management console with no backup data LIC bundle VRMF 64.2.xxx.xxx or later.
- No, stop and contact your next level of support. Normally the critical console data is reloaded only after the HMC hard drive is reloaded.
- Restart the management console.
- From the navigation area, click HMC Management.
- In the right work area, go to the Operations section and click Shut Down or Restart. The Shutdown or Restart window opens.
- Select Restart HMC. Click OK.
- When the management console pre-login screen appears, log on to the management console with user ID CE and password serv1cece.
- Run the discover storage facility task to refresh the
resources that are displayed by the HMC screens.
- From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management.
- From the bottom Task area, click Discover Storage Facility. You can click this option only once.
- Did the Discover Storage Facility task run successfully?
- Yes, go to the next step.
- No, contact your next level of support.
- Verify that each storage
facility, storage facility image, partition, and CEC display correctly:
- From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > Storage Facility > Server View.
- Do the entries display
correctly?
- Yes, go to the next step.
- No, contact your next level of support.
- Ensure that the customer can access the DS8000® Storage Manager application .
- Check for missing install corrective service (ICS) and reinstall ICS.
- For LIC bundle levels that contain the menu item "Verify Bundle Installed":
- From the navigation area, click Updates > storage facility > Verify Bundle Installed > code level
- In the ICS Images section, find the list of ICS images that need to be reinstalled, find the ICS media, and reinstall them.
- For LIC bundle levels that do not contain the menu item "Verify Bundle Installed":
- From the navigation area, click Updates > storage facility > Display Storage Facility Code Levels >
- Look for the "CDA Install History" section at the bottom of the display.
