Ensuring you have the correct HMC CD/DVDs to rebuild the secondary management console hard drive

Procedure

  1. The secondary HMC being installed must have the same LIC bundle VRMF as the existing primary HMC before it can be connected to the private network.
    Note: Observe the differences in the following two scenarios:
    • For some LIC bundles, HMC code packages can be directly installed using recovery CDs or recovery DVD plus CDs.
    • For other LIC bundles, HMC code packages must be updated using CDA. In this case, HMC code packages of an older level are first installed using recovery CDs or recovery DVD plus CDs.
  2. Use Table 1 to determine the LIC bundle VRMF for the CD/DVDs you will need on site to rebuild the external management console hard drive.
    Table 1. Determine the VRMF to order
    If the LIC bundle VRMF of the existing management console (MC 1) is: Action:
    6.2.xxx.xx, or 62.xxx.xxx.xxx, or later The DVDs should be in the existing HMC Recovery Kit. The recovery kit is shipped by manufacturing with new machine installation.
